MADAM, I was not at all surprised to read Mr Woodward's letter to the Ross Gazette, January 19th, declaring his unhappiness in receiving a parking fine for not displaying his disabled badge correctly.
I experienced the same predicament in Ross last summer, whilst helping my husband to a medical appointment, when his mobility was very restricted. Not an easy situation.
But to receive a parking ticket for such a small issue as the disabled badge being the wrong way round, is extremely draconian behaviour by the parking attendant, and quite unnecessary under the circumstances.
Incidentally, that was almost the last outing my husband made by car, since he passed away a few weeks later.
I firmly believe the Traffic Department should reform its codes of practice, and the sooner the better.
