HOP into Ross-on-Wye Library this Easter for free family fun, crafts, story times, dinosaurs and more.
Herefordshire families are in for a treat this Easter as all libraries in the county burst into life with a two-week celebration of stories, creativity and hands‑on fun for children and young people.
From Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, April 12 Herefordshire’s libraries will be hosting a vibrant programme of free drop‑in activities, workshops, author events, craft sessions, trails and story times designed to keep young minds inspired throughout the school holidays.
There will be an opportunity for children to make their own spring bookmark in all libraries as part of a free drop‑in craft activity.
There is also an opportunity to enter a competition for Herefordshire’s Young Historian Award 2026 aimed at children aged between nine and 11years to celebrate family histories, with the chance to win a trophy and prizes.
Individual events at the Ross Library included the Little Hedgehogs Book Fayre on April 2 which features 10 exciting local authors and runs between 11am and 3pm.
As part of the Book Fayre, 24 local shops are taking part in a book trail around the Ross town centre in support of the National Year of Reading 2026.
The shops will be show off book-themed, decorated windows throughout the whole of the month of March for children to enjoy.
Once children have found all 24 book characters, they will return their findings to the staff at Ross library, who will enter each participant into a draw to win a plush hedgehog.
The book trial will culminate in a children’s book fayre being held at Ross library on April 2 and being Ross, the theme of the competition is, of course, hedgehogs.
The book fayre is being run as a non-profit event, with any funding left over going to a charity of the authors' choice.
