Children from five local primary schools met together on Friday, March 23rd to compete in a physics challenge day organised by Dr Simon Rhodes from Hereford Cathedral School and the Ogden Trust.
He taught the pupils all about rocket science – gravity, streamlining and rocket thrust. Each pupil designed and made their own rocket which they tested using compressed air.
They were amazed at the distance they travelled. Prizes were awarded, donated by Hinterland Ltd, to the rockets that went the furthest, some reaching over 100m.
Dr Rhodes said that they were the best rockets he ever seen made by primary pupils. He thought Ross-on-Wye Schools were developing some budding scientists.
