Pupils at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Fownhope enjoyed a range of Easter activities during the last week before the Easter half-term.

On Tuesday, April 9th, Rebecca and Tim Greenow of Dinedoor Cross Farm brought sheep and lambs for the children to spend time with and bottle feed. Throughout the day children from all classes took turns to visit the sheep on the school field. There was a Jacob ewe with her twin lambs, a Ryeland ewe with her lamb and three bottle fed lambs.

Rebecca and Tim chatted about how to look after the sheep and what makes each breed special. Reception class bottle fed the tiddler lambs.

Tim Milne, Headteacher, said: “It’s lovely for our children to be able to see the sheep and lambs close-up and be able to ask questions and learn all about them. You can’t beat these real-life experiences to bring the curriculum to life!”

Children can continue to follow the sheep on the Facebook page: @dinedor crossfarm where events on the farm are updated with what’s happening on the farm most days, including any special events such as the Easter Trail.

Across Wednesday, April 10th and Thursday, April 11th, the children had fun taking part in Easter Egg hunts.

All the children were given a card to fill in which had 10 eggs on it that they needed to fill in with shapes. 10 paper eggs were hidden around the school field.

Once the children managed to fill them all in, they returned to get a stamp in their card and at the end of the day they received a mug and a chocolate egg to congratulate them on their efforts.

On the final day before the Easter half term, Friday, March 12th, the teachers, pupils and parents got together to round off the term in style with a meat or vegetarian roast dinner and pudding at the school.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
