Ross-on-Wye resident, Adrian Kendry, has recently been appointed a Visiting Professor in Global Economics and Defence and Security at the New Model in Technology and Engineering, Hereford, the first new university in the United Kingdom for 40 years.

Adrian was previously NATO’s Senior Defence Economist in Brussels where he coordinated NATO economic intelligence and travelled extensively to speak in member, partner and many other countries across the globe.

In his new role, Adrian will contribute to the innovative, exciting teaching and learning programmes of NMiTE. These programmes will generate a much-needed increase in the number of engineers, particularly women, who are pivotal to the successful modernisation of our economy and society.

Adrian told the Ross Gazette that he views his role as helping to promote the problem-solving skills, creativity, imagination and resilience necessary for the shaping of our future and sustaining our increasingly fragile environment and planet. Forging greater international understanding and cooperation accompanied by the strengthening of global governance is vital if we are to meet the immense and increasing environmental challenges arising from shortages and insecurity in energy, water, food and other strategic resources.
