Former student Jenny Costa Penny has recently taken up the position of Head of the Maths department at John Kyrle High School, the school where, until 2004, she was a pupil.

Jenny is one of 30 teaching and support staff at the school who are former pupils. These include several in leadership roles such as David Boyd, Deputy Head; Greg Calderbank, Head Of Geography; Helen Parry, second in MFL Dept and Head of Year 8, Hayley Knapper.

In between her spells of being and a student and a member of staff at JKHS, Jenny went to Brighton University, where she gained a First class degree in Mathematics. Jenny said: “Having been inspired by the Maths dept at JKHS to further my studies in the subject, it is a privilege to now be in a position where I too can share my passion.”

Nigel Griffiths, Headteacher, said he was delighted with Jenny’s appointment. “Amongst many strengths in our school, the Maths department has a long history of success. It is one of our most popular and successful subjects at A level.”
