Ashfield Park Primary School held their ‘Inspired for Life’ week recently. This enterprise themed week opened the children’s awareness to potential future opportunities and careers.

The children thoroughly enjoyed leading their own year group projects, and in some cases running a business. Projects included: Running a French Café for parents (Year 4); Planning, making and improving mocktails (Year 3); Developing workshops to educate others about the impact of unrecycled plastic on the environment (Year 5); Making and perfecting recipes for a smoothie booklet (Year 2) and producing ‘my future career’ bags (Reception).

Year 4 pupils opened the doors to their école Française et petit café Français (French school and café). Parents, grandparents and friends were invited for a lesson in how to speak a little French. Then, brimming with confidence, they were able to place their orders for such delights as croissants, brioche and pain au chocolat with the waiters and waitresses.

The event was a resounding success with all of the guests fully fed and proud of the children for their confidence in speaking and teaching French.

Throughout the week, the pupils were also lucky to have a wide range of visitors to talk about their jobs. There was a great variety from fighter pilots to dog walkers, town planners to publishers, gym instructors to a sculptor and even an Arctic explorer.

The school is very grateful to everyone who helped make this week a success by giving their time to share their experience and knowledge with the children. They are also grateful to Morrisons for their generous donation of fruit. The week was thoroughly enjoyed by the staff and children.
