John Kyrle High School experienced a security breach this week when a server used to store personal data of staff and students was accessed without authorisation.

The school became aware of the incident on Monday, January 13th and have been unable to access the server which has since caused considerable disruption.

A letter has been sent out by the school to parents and carers of students providing further explanation on the issue.

In the letter the school confirm that the issue has been reported to the police and an investigation is already underway, although as of yet they stress that there is currently no evidence to suggest any data stored on the server has been used.

Speaking directly to students’ parents in the letter, Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths said: “We appreciate that you will be concerned about the personal data breach, but on behalf of the school, we can assure you that we are taking all necessary steps to address the situation and ensure everything continues as normal.”
