Two pupils at John Kyrle High School in Ross-on-Wye, Isla Kendall, Year 11, and Declan Needham Church, Year 13, have been selected to join the highly prestigious New York Academy of Sciences.

They competed against more than 2000 of the most-able Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths students from around the world. Isla and Declan will now have life-long access to exclusive educational opportunities. They will be mentored by academics and experts from around the globe. As part of this, both students will develop advanced research, innovation, and collaboration skills and compete in challenges sponsored by industry-leading companies.

Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths, commended Isla and Declan and thanked their teachers for their hard work. This included Mrs Rainbow, Head of Maths, who worked with Isla, and Dr Moseley, Lead for A-Level mathematics, who worked with Declan, in order to prepare them for the exacting selection process.
