Briery Class from Gorsley Goffs Primary School enjoyed a day out to BH Savidge & Son, Woodfields Farm in Weston Under Penyard, as part of their term topic learning Where Our Food Comes From.
The trip was organised and funded by the Harewood End Agricultural Society, with contributions from the Hereford Corn Exchange.
The children were shown around the working apple and raspberry Farm, walking through the young apple orchards and raspberry plant poly tunnels.
They learnt about the entire process, from planting to growing, to harvesting, to packing for a supermarket. The children also learnt that the smaller fruit goes towards Fruit for Schools, which they thoroughly enjoy each school day.
They were able to pick their own juicy apples and raspberries with some tips from Andrew, Fruit Manager, and Mark Savidge, Owner.
Thanks go to Mark and Rose Savidge, and the whole team at BH Savidge & Son, for hosting and leading the visit.
