For many years the residents of Garway have made good use of their green, corrugated iron village hall. Everything from exercise classes to markets have taken place there, but the Village Hall Committee is delighted that, thanks to lottery funding, work has started to provide Garway with a new hall.

As the construction work began on the new community centre, pupils from the local primary school were invited to create a time capsule and lay it in the foundations.

Children from Garway School prepared all kinds of pieces of work, including what they think the village and school will be like in the future. Members of the Village Hall Committee joined the children and school staff to witness them filling the capsule and burying it.

A small group of pupils was selected to accompany the builder to place the capsule in the trench which had been specially prepared on Friday, February 24th.

Paul Quarrell from William Powell & Sons talked to the children about the site and explained about the different pieces of equipment that had already been used for the foundations. He reminded them of the dangers of a building site and said that they must never try to get inside the barriers.
