National Science Week, which took place from March 10th to March 17th, inspired Ashfield Park Primary School, in Ross-on-Wye, to bring the ‘wow’ factor into the classroom through enthralling practical science and technology activities. From reception to Year 6 every class has been buzzing with excitement.

The week started with Years 5 and 6 visiting Techniquest in Cardiff and actively learning through the 160 hands-on science exhibits.

Year 4 pupils experienced water technology and pond dipping activities at The Hereford Waterworks Museum. Year 2 were fascinated by a Zoolab animal handling event, while Year 1, and the reception classes, role played at being vets for an afternoon, when Vine Tree Veterinary Practice brought in a selection of small animals and a bird of prey, to enable these young pupils to learn more about animal care.

A real delight at school was seeing the reception children dressing up as scientists at the start and end of the week – inspiring everyone with their enthusiasm and curiosity for science.
