Ray Morris recently donated an empty wasp’s nest, the size of a football, to the science department at John Kyrle High School.

Mr Morris contacted the Ross Gazette, after stories were printed about the Asian Giant Hornet; a couple believed one of these wasps had been found at their home in Herefordshire, but local experts soon alleviated those fears.

He told the Gazette that he had a wasp’s nest in pristine condition, and wanted to donate it to John Kyrle High School. He also had photographs of a wasps building a nest, to show how the habitat was constructed.

The Gazette contacted John Kyrle High School to organise a meeting between the science teachers and Mr Morris, and Mr Morris gave them the nest on Tuesday, November 8th.

Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths, told the Gazette that the wasp’s nest will be well used by the students in future years.
