As part of their new ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ topic, pupils at Kings Caple School baked Cornish pasties this week and delivered them to The West Cornwall Pasty Co in Hereford for judging in a competition.
The children are learning all about the best things about the UK, including food and drink. They researched the history of Cornish pasties and wrote instructions, then baked their own pasties in the school kitchen.
Manager of the West Cornwall Pasty Co in Hereford, Debbie Davis, and her staff, Wendy Caroll and Mandy Price, carefully examined each pasty and tasted them before choosing three winners: Sophie, Alex and Callan.
Debbie said: “We were extremely impressed by the high standard of the pasties. We want to say well done to all the children who took part.”
Each winner has visited the shop to collect their pasty themed prize.
