Pupils at Kings Caple Primary Academy welcomed a volunteer speaker from The Blue Cross on Tuesday, January 22nd who delivered an informative assembly on the history of the charity, before pupils participated in workshops on animal welfare.

During the assembly, children listened to the vital work The Blue Cross have carried out since 1897, and how they have helped sick, injured and homeless pets through the world wars all the way to the present day.

Pupils then went on to learn about animal welfare through a series of workshops and participated in some exciting activities to understand more on the importance of establishing happy homes for all pets. One pupil commented: “It was a great afternoon and I understand more on how to care for all animals, not just pets.”

The Blue Cross speaker said: “Thank you so much for having me in your lovely school. I’m still mesmerised by the stunning scenery around where you are located! Your children are so lucky to go to school in such a beautiful place!

“A big thank you to the children for listening and participating so well. I have thoroughly enjoyed my visit and if the opportunity arises, I would love to see you all again.”
