Ten bikes are being given to Zimbabwe children as part of a local charity campaign.

Bob’s Bikes, a project facilitated by EnviroAbility have recently supported Zimbabwean teacher Onika, to supply children and adults with much needed Bicycles in rural areas of Zimbabwe.

Bob’s Bikes supplied 10 refurbished bikes to Onika that she will to take back with her, along with a variety of other much needed equipment.

About 4.5 million children live in rural Zimbabwe, according to UNICEF and more than three million children are currently living in extreme poverty in these regions.

Bob’s Bikes and EnviroAbility support a number of worthy projects and are proud to support Onika’s cause.

Earlier this year the Gazette reported on over a thousand pounds which was raised for EnviroAbility at previous mayor John Winder’s charity quiz night.

Cllr John Winder, put on the quiz night at the sports centre and raised £1,400 for EnviroAbility, his mayoral charity.

Over 70 people turned out, who were all in full competitive spirit with the Cllr Winder taking on the role of quiz master. As well as the quiz, a raffle also took place with some fabulous prizes kindly donated by local business including vouchers to spend at Hanks’ Meat and Game, Peter Hickman and Lizzie Bunting, hamper from Morrisons and a brewery tour and gifts from The Bespoke Brewery Co. Quiz goers also enjoyed a fish and chip supper from Seven Seas.
