Kyri Ermoyenous and Lydia Smith, two students at John Kyrle High School, were recently awarded The Baden Powell Award, which is the highest award a Girl Guide can achieve. 

In order to achieve this impressive accolade, the girls needed to complete ten clauses (tasks) which are designed to make entrants try new things and push personal boundaries

Kyri told the Ross Gazette: ‘We enjoyed completing our tasks, which included organising a yoga evening, a Japanese evening and a co-operative game evening for our Guide unit. We also researched period poverty, an issue which affects young people today, did voluntary work in our community, performed in a play, gained a swimming award and made a mood board!’

To finish the Award Kyri and Lydia took part in a Baden-Powell Adventure. They chose to visit the Girl Guiding Headquarters in London and did the Monopoly Challenge which involved travelling around London completing certain challenges as well as finding, and photographing themselves, at land marks.  

Lydia is attending the World Scout Jamboree in the USA later this year and is working hard to fundraise for this. Kyri has become a youth ambassador for Period Power, a charity working to address period poverty.
