A man, in his 70s, has been kicked and punched in an attack in a Hereford alleyway.

West Mercia Police, who are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward, said that the incident happened some time between 7.10pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, March 23rd in the alleyway between Pentwyn Court and Freda Pearce Close in Hereford.

The victim was walking down the alleyway when he was approached by two unknown men.

The men are then believed to have punched the victim to the face causing him to fall to the floor. They have then kicked and stamped on the victim before leaving the scene.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and body and has received treatment for his injuries. They are not believed to be life threatening.

The first man is described as white, in his early 20s, around 6’ tall, of stocky build with short dark hair and is believed to have been riding a bicycle.

The second man is described as white, around 6’ tall, of stocky build, with a bald head and is also believed to have been riding a bicycle.

PC Tapsell from West Mercia Police said: "This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked assault that has left the victim both injured and shaken.

"We take reports of this nature very seriously and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to please get in touch."

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 225s of 24 March 2019.
