Those who spend time at the Community Garden are excitedly anticipating the introduction of electricity there, which Project Leader, Tim Shelley, said would make “something amazing even better.”

Having received quotes from Western Power, and with funding from Haygrove, Tim hopes to raise £3500 more, and is appealing to residents and organisations across Ross-on-Wye to help fund the electricity project.

Currently, hot water has to be brought to the garden for tea and coffee, while the lighting and heating in the cabins are not sufficient in winter.

Tim told the Ross Gazette that the ability to access electricity in the Community Garden will allow it to offer more to everybody there, and looks forward to visitors and users of the Garden having access to better facilities. A local electrician has come forward and offered to volunteer his services to the Community Garden.

MP Jesse Norman, who has made a donation, said: “Electricity will help them to broaden the range of activities on offer to the 90 users of the garden.”Visit https://localgiving.org/appeal/electricity-for-ross-community-garden/ to find out more.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
