A trio of endurance athletes, Nicola Goodwin, Ian Rivers and Julie Hardman, completed their swim of the River Wye this afternoon (September 22nd).

The group swam 87 miles and walked 70 miles, along the River Wye, from the source to the sea, to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice.

The group, who are all members of Hereford Triathlon Club, took 11 days to complete their journey. They swam approximately seven hours each day, and had to contend with several challenges along the route; the water was very cold, and at times, very shallow, but they were also able to enjoy spectacular scenery and stunning views.

The group have been fundraising for the entertainment’s budget for St Michael’s Hospice. The group hold the Herefordshire Hospice in very high esteem. Julie works with the Wye Valley NHS Trust, caring for people, and Nicola and Ian both have friends who were cared for in the hospice before they died.

The team are very grateful for all donations. To sponsor them, visit the website Http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/riverwyesourcetosea
