Grab your frying pan and your trainers and join the Great Ross Pancake Race at 10am on Shrove Tuesday. Members of the Association of Ross Traders together with Ross in Bloom are reviving The Great Pancake Race in the Market Square, on February 16th.
The races are open to members of the public, the local business community, charities, schools, pubs and all other organisations. The race is a simple 50m or 100m sprint, each team is to provide their own Frying Pan and each person must wear non-slip shoes suitable for running and an apron. Pancakes will be provided and each participant will be required to toss pancakes at the beginning, middle and end of the race.
All entrants must be under the market square by 10am for a full briefing of rules. Entry fee is £1 per person. However it would really help and encourage the organisers if people could get their entries in before the day so they have some idea of the number of competitors.
There will be prizes for winners and special achievements, as well as a separate prize for the best decorated pinnie. The prizes have all been donated by Ross retailers. Entry forms are available from Sewing Essentials, Gloucester Road.
