DO YOU love to sing? Do you want an opportunity to explore choral singing with an experienced musical director and pianist, and make some new friends in the process?
Ross Penyard Singers are holding a ‘Come and Sing’ event based on the music of West Side Story on Saturday, February 28 between 10am and 2.30pm, at St Mary’s Church Hall (opposite the church) in Ross-on-Wye.
All singers, whether experienced or new to choral singing, are welcome to join in with therelaxed community choir who love to laugh during rehearsals, but still achieve a good standard of performance for its concerts.
There is no requirement to read music, and many of the singers have joined the choir with no previous experience of singing.
The Ross Penyard Singers are very social, enjoy a good chat during coffee breaks, and sometimes organise trips to the theatre or the pub together.
The singers also raise funds for local charities through its two concerts which are held every year, and enjoy performing at community events such as the Ross Christmas Fayre, or the Community Garden in the summer.
The Come and Sing event would be an ideal time to come and give singing a try. If you are interested, further information and tickets priced at £10 each (which includes all music) are available from the website, rosspenyardsingers.org.uk.
Those interested in taking part are asked to book by Wednesday, February 25.
Tea/coffee and other refreshments including home-made cakes will be provided during the morning break, there will be a lunch break between 12.30 and 1.30, so bring a packed lunch or visit a local café.
It is proposed that the singers will spend time rehearsing the music together and then perform the songs at 2pm.
