All the residents of the Whitchurch care home who were evacuated on Tuesday morning, February 18th have now been found new places to live.

June Pearce of the Larruperz Centre, Ross-on-Wye told the Ross Gazette that they are an established ’rescue’ centre with Herefordshire Council and knew on Monday evening that they might be called into service. Then on Tuesday morning the evacuation process began and they were quickly able to accommodate the residents, as well as their care workers and lots of other professionals who arrived to offer support.

June said: "It must have been a very traumatic experience but thankfully no-one had to spend the night here." Everyone found a new care home where they will stay for the forseable future.

June added that the centre had been overwhelmed with offers of help, she said: "We are eternally grateful to all the volunteers and for everyone who offered to help."
