Those driving into Hereford City Centre can expect long traffic delays until Friday; emergency work is currently being carried out to repair a gas leak on Victoria Street.
A spokesperson from Herefordshire Council told the Gazette: "We have received information from them this morning indicating that the works are likely to continue until Friday of this week. National Grid is working 24 hours a day to try to minimise disruption."
The gas leak was discovered on Monday night, and emergency repair work has been carried out ever since.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or find alternative ways of travelling into the city over the next few days.
