If you are in Ross-on-Wye this Sunday evening, April 30th you might hear the bells of St Mary’s church ringing for longer than usual.

A team of bellringers from across the country, from Yorkshire to Devon and Bedfordshire to Somerset will be attempting a peal (about three hours of continuous ringing) as part of their ‘East Meets West’ tour of the region.

Led by George Campling, a leading exponent of the art, the team will ring a musical composition of Lessness Surprise Major, created by Tony Cox.

To find out more about the bells and bellringing why not come along to a Tuesday evening session held every week at 7pm.
