A poignant service of remembrance took place at Tudorville Cemetery on Sunday, June 4th as part of the Ross-on-Wye Branch of the Royal British Legion commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Falklands War.

The ceremony at Tudorville Cemetery was organised especially to remember Private Timothy Jenkins, who served as a member of the third Battalion of the 3rd Parachute Regiment and was killed in action on June 12th 1982.

Graham Aplin, Chairman of the Ross RBL, told the Ross Gazette: “It was a very moving service, and I was touched to see so many people, including those from Tudorville, who knew Tim come to remember him and his sacrifice. I hope we have done Tim and his family proud.”

At 2.30pm, there was a Grand Parade around the centre of Ross-on-Wye. The parade was led by members of the RBL riders, including many Falklands veterans. They rode along Cantilupe Road, and went along Gloucester Road towards High Street and mustering again at Palace Pound.

The streets, which had been empty just minutes before, were packed with hundreds of onlookers, eager to witness the event for themselves. Another moving service of remembrance followed.
