The Annual Unit Review of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadets took place on Thursday, April 11th.
During the evening, the District Officer spoke to all cadets during an inspection and also witnessed the cadets carrying out various activities that they take part in, while looking at the overall delivery of the Sea Cadet experience within the unit. The feedback from the personnel carrying out the inspection was positive and praised the improvement the unit has achieved in the last year since it had moved to its new premises in Homs Road.
At the end of the evening, parents and supporters came along to witness the unit padre, Colin Leggate, carry out a change of command from Warrant Officer 2 (SCC) Catherine Fitzgerald RNR, to Petty Officer (SCC) Alethea Bumpstead.
Warrant Officer 2 (SCC) Catherine Fitzgerald RNR, joined the unit on a temporary basis a year ago, to help the unit establish strong roots and flourish again. During her time in command, cadet numbers have increased, cadets have participated in a large variety of courses, competitions, community and fundraising events and many of them have gained a variety of qualifications.
