Leeanne Davies who lived in Ross her whole life, lost her battle with cancer on May 22nd. She attended pre-school at the Larruperz, moving on to Bridstow Primary School and finally John Kyrle High School. She attended the 6th form and studied for her A levels there. During her time at John Kyrle she enjoyed playing in the hockey team and also contributed to the new art block memorial. She made life long friends at school who helped her, especially during her last eight months. She also studied at Hereford College of Technology. She worked locally at Morrisons, Halifax Building Society and Aubrey and Co, where she was planning on furthering her career in accountancy. In her spare time Leeanne enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend. She would go to the Clothes Show every year, holiday abroad and also enjoyed a few trips to Blackpool to watch the darts. She would often be out in Ross dancing until the early hours on the weekend with her friends but also spent time with her family, sharing many family trips to one of their favourite places, Weymouth. She had a great love for the family dog, Fergal, who she would walk no matter what the weather and he really did love her back. Leeanne loved a gossip, a laugh and a good time. Leeanne got her wish to die at home and this was made possible by many people including staff at HANDs Care, Marie Curie, Alton Street Surgery and the district nurse team. Leeanne wanted everyone to know about her illness and to be made aware of what it was and one of her final wishes was to be in the local newspaper after she passed away. Her family and friends have raised about £4000 so far for research into Leeanne's cancer, and will carry on raising money for Michael Collin's Research at the University Hospital, Birmingham, in the future. Her family and friends gathered at the riverside on Friday evening, May 29th to create a tribute to this young woman. It was organised by Ellen Kittner and Maria Gooding and started at 5.30pm when people began writing their thoughts and prayers for Leeanne on pink cards. The balloons were released at 7pm. More than 150 people turned out to buy and release balloons and the event raised £851 for Leanne's charity. Leeanne's funeral takes place at St Mary's Church on Thursday, 5th June.
