When eight-year-old Ffion Heulin-Drake was looking for inspiration to make things, she visited the Dogs Trust charity shop in Ross-on-Wye. She started chatting to a member of staff and decided that she would like to raise some money for the charity. They supplied her with a hat, balloons and sponsorship forms, and Ffion decided to complete a 12 and half mile cycle ride.
She wore the Dogs Trust hat and had her face painted to look like a dog and set off on Sunday, July 2nd with her father, Andrew.
Ffion told the Ross Gazette: “It was a very hot day, but when I felt too hot and tired I thought about the dogs and kept going.”
Ffion and Andrew ended their ride in Symonds Yat and were met by family members and friends.
Andrew said that local businesses and friends had been very generous. Ffion’s best friend, who has three dogs, gave her some of her pocket money, and Ffion added some of her own money too.
She raised £106.78 and delivered it to the Dogs Trust charity shop in Ross-on-Wye on Wednesday, July 12th.
A volunteer at the store told Ffion that a lot of dogs will benefit from her cycle ride, as there are a lot of hungry dogs which need feeding.
