Ross and Monmouth Sea Cadets are organising an Open Evening on Thursday, March 17th. This will be the perfect opportunity for anyone, to find out more about the organisation.
The unit, which operates from its headquarters on the Ashburton Industrial Estate on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, is currently expanding.
Sea Cadets is a charitable uniformed youth organisation for young people aged 10 to 18 based on the traditions of the Royal Navy and gives young people the chance to learn life skills such as First Aid, Catering, Stewarding and Marine Engineering as well as waterbourne skills in activities such as powerboating, kayaking, rowing and offshore trips.
In order to deliver these skills the unit relies on a band of adult volunteers (both uniformed and non-uniformed) who are given all the necessary training by the Sea Cadets. This results in adults gaining externally recognised qualifications from organisations such as the RYA, Canoe England and St John Ambulance.
The unit has excellent relationships with other community-based organisations such as the Royal British Legion and Royal Naval Association.
The Open Evening on Thursday, March 17th will take place between 7pm and 9pm.
