GOODRICH Cricket Club U15 commenced their new season with away and home matches against Lydney B and A.
The team were asked to bat first in the visit to Lydney B. Only Jonty Cutter (10) reached double figures. The final total of 61 – 9 was reached with the help of an undefeated last wicket partnership of 11 between Rhodri Morris (3*) and Ollie Owens (4*).
For Lydney B J Turner, J Scott and W Martin each took 2 wickets. Lydney B reached their target for the loss of 1 wicket in the 16th over. The only wicket being Stubbs (7) bowled by Owens,
Scott remained not out 11. Despite a much improved bowling and fielding performance the Lydney batsmen were to prove too strong for the Goodrich bowlers.
The final total was a credible 150 – 2 with the wickets being claimed by Owens and Crickmore. For the visitors three batsmen retired undefeated with scores in excess of 20.
The home side found the visitors bowling far too strong and were dismissed for 30 in the 19th over.
The final margin of defeat of 120 runs did not entirely reflect the efforts of the Goodrich youngsters who put on a fine and brave display full of enthusiasm and skill.
