A SCHEME to revamp the town’s fingerposts has got underway.
Currently Ross-on-Wye has finger posts that have been described as being outdated, due to the distances being measured in yards.
Ross Town Council has made provision to bring the signage into the 21st Century with distances now being measured in metres.
The first fingerpost is along Metcalfe Close at its junction with the footbridge to Homs Road car park.
The five fingers state that the skate park is 1,041 metres away; the bandstand is 574 metres, and the town centre is 401 metres. The fingerpost also point the way to the Wye Valley / Willow Walk.
The current finger posts were installed some 30 years ago when imperial measures were still widely in use.
