Work has started to relocate the Sea Cadets from their base in Station Street, Ross-on-Wye to their new home at Homs Road car park.

The unit was founded in 1999 and has never had a permanent home, so the members are thrilled that they have now signed the lease with Ross Town Council for the space at the car park, which the Town Council have taken over from Herefordshire Council.

Work to dismantle, and move the buildings has started, new fencing is being erected around the site and the old toilet block is going to be refurbished. Brian Lampert, the Lieutenant Commander of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadets told the Ross Gazette: “This will give us much more space, better security and a better parade area.”

The Cadets have been travelling to Hereford Cadet unit to use their parade grounds, while the move is taking place. They are really looking forward to taking up their new home when it is completed, hopefully before Christmas.
