Ross Hockey Club Men's 1st XI ended the year on a high with an impressive 8 - 0 triumph over Sherbourne.
Ross took the first push back and wasted no time pushing hard on the Sherbourne defence working around them. The home side took a couple of shots before attacker, Adrian Williams, hit the back board and opened up his goal account.
Attacker, Phil Evans, added one of his own, and was followed, straight afterwards, by Williams with his second. Ross had a couple more chances with shots going high and wide and a short corner was saved. But it was Williams who once again hit the target for Ross.
The home side's defenders, Brian Clare, Luke Ward, Dave Skyrme and Jack Wilkinson, looked secure in front of 'keeper, Andy Ridgway, who was only called into action on a few occasions, maintaining his clean sheet for the game.
At the beginning of the second half, Sherbourne managed to get a short corner early on, but missed the target. The home team took control once more with the midfielders Sam Warner, Tom Walton, Matt Saunders, Kristian Franklin and Nick Clarke holding the possession. Warner broke away driving through the Sherbourne defence, his shot screamed past the 'keeper, into the goal.
