OCCURRENCES of near-accidents involving children crossing the road at the mini roundabouts at Five Ways, in Ross, brought to the attention of the Ross Gazette, have prompted councillors to suggest taking action to make the junction safer.

The Ross Gazette was contacted via Facebook, this week, by a concerned motorist, who had given way to children at Five Ways, for them to cross the road, only for other, oncoming drivers to not reciprocate. She said: "Will we have to wait for [a] death again before something is sorted out at Millpond Street?"

The corner where Millpond Street meets the first mini roundabout appears to be the particular danger point. Children assemble on the Morrison's side of Millpond Street and look to cross over towards Brookend Street. However, as cars coming from Over Ross do not have a clear line of sight down Millpond Street until they are yards from where the children tend to cross, concerned motorists and residents have suggested a change.
