Dear Editor,

Councillor Bartrum made two interesting points in last week’s Ross Gazette. One was about fly-tipping in Honeysuckle Close and the other was about the NFU’s decision to tell all our farmers that they should vote to Remain in the EU.

May I suggest that fly tipping would become a thing of the past if our so called “Recycling Centre” didn’t refuse certain types of vehicles bringing in …er.. recycling material?

As for the NFU, Mr Bartrum might remember Jeremy Paxman’s comments on Newsnight when Tony Blair welcomed Ben Gill on the steps of No. 10. Mr Gill was the NFU leader who pushed the government to kill 10 million sheep (mostly healthy) during the Foot and Mouth event. Jeremy Paxman said: “One of these men is running the country .. the other is the Prime Minister”. Does that help to explain why the NFU should be echoing the Government’s line campaigning on behalf of the EU whose accounting books nobody dares audit?
