When Rob Redbourn and his wife, Fiona were looking for a new adventure, they hit on the idea of developing a crazy golf course in the Forest of Dean, next to the popular Maize Maze at Elton near Cinderford.

Their Pirate Adventure Crazy Golf Course opened on Saturday, July 22nd and has been a great succes.

Rob told the Ross Gazette: “I had been a self employed kitchen and bathroom installer for 25 years and when my wife was made redundant after working for the NHS for 25 years we wanted to do something that would be more fun. Now we can hear laughter and people enjoying themselves all day.”

Rob had seen a similar course in London and knew there are quite a few crazy golf courses around but not one like it in the Forest of Dean. He knew a piece of land which could be developed and that there was a gap in the market in the area.

They plan to open annually from April 1st to the end of October and they are already looking at opening for a few dates around Christmas with special events and the chance to meet Santa.

There is a snack bar so visitors can enjoy refreshments, cakes and icecream. The course has been designed so that there is wheelchair access. There is a path which goes all the way around so it is suitable for all ages, included disabled or older people.

Children are encouraged to wear a pirate mask or they could dress up and play like a pirate.
