Madam, You published two letters concerning Democracy Amnesia in the Gazette of April 7th. They both contain inaccuracies.

At the co-option of a Town Councillor in 2005 it states that the committee was made up of Liberal Councillors. That is very strange because at that time I was the only Lib-Dem Councillor. There were, I think, six Conservatives and four Independents.

At the meeting, which was composed of three Councillors, Paul Truman was appointed as an Independent. The year following he and two other Independents decided they wished to join one of the political parties and became members of the Lib-Dems.

When appointed Paul Truman was not affiliated with any party, the vote for him was unanimous and the Conservative voted for him. He was definitely not a member of the Liberal Democrats until many months later.

No way can it be said that the Lib-Dems dominated the meeting since there was only one Lib-Dem present.
