Andy Gwynne, was born and bred in Ross-on-Wye, is celebrating his rally school’s 25th aniversary, prestigious recognition and a visit from Billy Monger, the 18-year-old who lost both his legs in a freak motor racing accident.
The former John Kyrle High School student whose parents owned a fish and chip shop on Broad Street, established the school in 1994.
Gloucestershire Rally School has been inducted into the prestigious, and much sought after, Trip Advisor Hall of Fame after five consecutive years of being awarded the Certificate of Excellence. It is the only Rally School in the UK to have been acknowledged in this way.
The award and announcement came on the 25th Anniversary of the company. Andy, the team principal, with his partner, Holly Robinson as his co-driver, were crowned National Rally Champions in 2003 and went on to win many important national rally events, as well as starting the company which offers Rally Experience Days to members of the public aged 10 and over.
Although the company has continued to grow and develop since the very beginning it has had to overcome several serious setbacks.
Andy and Holly both acknowledge that strong team work from their loyal workforce has, over the years, overcome these and other serious problems and they are delighted to be the only rally school to achieve a place in the much coveted Trip Advisor Hall of Fame.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
