A former soldier who was brought up in Ross-on-Wye, Sarah Rogan, dressed in suffragette costume complete with medals, joined the March To Leave in Nottinghamshire on Sunday. The march, lead in many locations by Nigel Farage, started in Sunderland and ends in London this Friday, the date Britain is due to leave the European Union.

Sarah told the Ross Gazette she was amazed at the level of support they encountered from motorists, householders and passers by. She said: “Despite the large Remainers march in London last Saturday, most ordinary British folk seem to have hardened in their opinion that Britain should leave the EU.”

She added: “When local campaigning group Herefordshire For Brexit canvassed shoppers in High Town last weekend, an astonishing 94% stated a preference for a No Deal Brexit, against “Delay Brexit” or “Vote Again” options. This included several Remain voters who just want the government to “get on with it.” Herefordshire for Brexit supporters will be travelling to London on Friday to join forces with groups from all over the UK united in their determination that the democratic will of the majority be done.

Meanwhile 250 people from Herefordshire joined the ‘Put it to the People’ rally in London, to pass on the wishes of the 12,941 people from the county who have signed the Parliamentary petition to revoke Article 50 which has now reached more than five million signatures – the largest ever.

Herefordshire for Europe, together with other pro Europe groups, represents the growing number of people who think that a mistake was made at the time of the referendum.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
