ROSS-on-Wye Town Council is once again offering a range of free activities for local families during the October half-term, continuing its commitment to supporting children and parents alike.

Following the success of previous sessions at Ross Community Gardens and craft events at the Market House, this year’s programme returns with a fresh twist. All activities are free to attend and no advance booking is required.

The week kicks off on Tuesday, October 28, with a drop-in arts and crafts session at the Market House from 11am to 2pm. Liz and Katie from The Wild Things will lead the session, giving children the chance to get creative in a fun and relaxed setting.

On Wednesday, October 29, families can enjoy a board game afternoon at the Corn Exchange from 12pm to 3pm. A wide selection of games will be available for use, while soft drinks and snacks can be purchased on site. Entry and participation remain completely free.

Thursday, October 30, features two children’s reading sessions at Ross Library on Cantilupe Road. At 10:30am, Catherine Barr will read from her book Wildlife Crossings and follow it with a hedgehog-themed craft activity.

At midday, storyteller Marcus Pibworth will host a fun and engaging session, organised with support from Herefordshire Libraries.

The week concludes on Friday, October 31, at Ross Community Gardens on Old Gloucester Road, where Herefordshire Wildlife Trust will run a pumpkin trail hunt and craft activities from 2pm to 4pm. Children taking part in the hunt will receive a special keepsake to take home.

For enquiries, families can contact the Town Council Offices by phone during office hours. With a mix of crafts, games, storytelling, and outdoor fun, Ross-on-Wye’s half-term programme offers something for every child, providing a safe and welcoming space for families to enjoy the school holidays together.
