Following the unexpected death of an active, healthy young woman from an undiagnosed heart condition her family and friends have been fundraising to offer free ECG testing.

The Dr Jenny Bucknell Memorial Fund in partnership with CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is funding 200 free ECG heart testing for 14-35 year olds at the Grange School, Monmouth on October 28th and 29th.

Jenny Bucknell was apparently fit and very sporty, swimming at Monnow Swimming Club for 11 years, rowing with Ross-on-Wye, Llandaff and Cardiff. She was just about to graduate as a Doctor from Cardiff University, when at just 23 she literally dropped dead from an undiagnosed heart condition.

This is why testing healthy, active youngsters for an underlying condition is so important to Jenny’s friends and family. They have been raising money in various ways, including running marathons, making marmalade, organising a craft sale, green wood turning and many other ways for CRY, in Jenny’s memory, to help prevent other families being devastated as they have.

They have raised £7,000 so far and are using some of the funds to organise these tests at Monmouth.
