Kate Ingleby-Lewis will be hosting free yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes for people who have problems with their mental health. She is running these sessions as a part of the Mental Health Pilot project that is currently taking place in Ross-on-Wye.
These workshops will take place at Wyefit Gym. The first session will be on Sunday, May 14th, from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
Kate hopes that the yoga sessions will be of benefit to people who are suffering with anxiety and/or depression by giving them coping mechanisms. Kate pointed out that when a person becomes anxious, their breathing becomes affected. “If feelings can control breathing, then breathing can control our feelings,” she commented.
The sessions will focus around relaxation, and will help people to focus their thoughts on one thing at a time.
A Ross Town Councillor, Hannah Lerego, who is involved with the Mental Health Pilot, told the Gazette that she is so pleased that the sessions are free, as some people who experience mental health problems may not be able to work, so finding funds to pay for a yoga class is not always easy.Kate commented: "Anyone who would like to come along with an open mind is welcome. Please bring a pillow, a blanket and a mat if you have access to one."
