It has been a busy summer at Ross Skatepark, and great to see so many young people using the newly refurbished ramps there.

Sadly, there have been many incidents of graffiti, and the Town Council has had to commit additional funding to re-paint the artwork at the site.

The work commenced recently thanks to two willing volunteers from Enviroability, along with a member of the Council’s staff who have been busy scraping off the rust and preparing the surfaces.

Richard Mayo, the Amenities Committee Chairman said: “It’s great to see this partnership approach to making improvements in town and we’re happy that Enviroability is committed to working with the Council to see this happen.”

Later in the week, local artist, Tom Cousins, hopes to make a start on the fresh paintwork. The creation of a new ‘graffiti wall’ will hopefully restrict those wishing to spray paint to the designated area. The Council’s Amenities Committee feel positive that the new design will be an improvement at the skatepark.

The Council would like to see further enhancements at the skatepark, and have included this as one of their objectives in the 3 year budget plans.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
