Back in February, the Phoenix Singers and the Roaring Megs Choir performed a concert at the Open Weekend of St. Mary’s Church, the proceeds of which were for The Friends of Ross Hospital.
Mary Brigg, the musical director and conductor of the Phoenix Singers, contacted Jill Davies from the Friends of Ross Hospital.
Jill told the Ross Gazette: “Mary rang to say that she had a cheque they wished to present to me for £1,200! Isn’t that amazing!”
She added: “Both of these choirs regularly give their support to the Friends of Ross Hospital to which we are extremely grateful. The proceeds from this concert will be put towards the Friends latest project, which is to fund an auxiliary lift to be sited on the outside of the building.”
On Thursday, March 29th, this cheque was presented at the Phoenix Theatre by Mary Brigg, George Banks-Martin, the director of the Roaring Megs, and committee members, Sue Nicholson and Elaine Tomlins.
Last year the cheque was presented to St Michael’s Hospice, and next year they will choose another local charity.
