Zsolt Guti and his partner, Nicola, are in Hungary today, having driven the 1,200 miles from Ross-on-Wye to take part in the Budapest-Bamako, a minimal assistance adventure and navigational race from Europe to Africa.

Zsolt is a technician at GB Motorservices in Ross and converted his Toyota Hilux himself, using GB Motorservices workshops, tools and equipment in the evenings and at weekends with the kind permission of the owners, Phil Goulding and Nigel Baldwin.

From the start on January 31st the couple will travel through 14 stages over 17 days from Budapest to Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea and Sierra Leone.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
