Dear Editor,
We live in a small town but the community spirit here is massive. I am sure in the coming weeks there will be more people to add to my thank you list.
The public meeting is on Thursday, November 19th at 7pm at The Corn Exchange in High Street for anyone wanting to help on the day in any way, please come along.
Finally may I ask all the children, old and young, of Ross to come dressed in festive attire, maybe a Christmas jumper - there will be sweets handed out by Xentricity theatre group to you all.
am also very grateful to those residents who have agreed to give up their time to steward the event. I look forward to seeing you on November 29th, 11am - 5pm, when the town will be full of Christmas cheer!
I would like to personally thank through your newspaper, Rossiters Books, The Ross Voice, Tudor Sweets and Brandon Tool Hire, who have donated items to our event on November 29th for the enjoyment of all. ART have given us vouchers too, and we have had invaluable donations of people’s time particularly Ben Abbott, our MC.
A big thank you also to Ermin Plant Hire, who are lighting all of our stalls for us for free, and to Costa Coffee in Ross who are buying the tree and decorations for Santa’s grotto, which will then all be donated to SHYPP as a thank you in return for their time as stewards. Thank you also to the Royal Hotel for housing Santa’s Grotto.
I am also grateful to St Mary’s Choir who will be singing at 11am to open the event and to the Ross Town Band who are playing 2-4pm, so we can all sing carols. As people will have noticed the Christmas lights of the town are already up and twinkling beautifully as they are on a circuit and street light timer - It is the Market House lights, and the lights on the donated Christmas tree, which will be ceremonially turned on at 4pm.
Cllr Hannah Lerego
