Police are giving out a rather unusual warning to drivers heading along the A40 near Highnam. The advice, which is normally reserved for the much warmer climes of Australia, is to watch out for wallabies.
In the last few days Gloucestershire Police has received a number of calls from members of the public reporting sightings of a wallaby or kangaroo in the road. The most recent report was yesterday evening, Monday July 23, shortly after 10pm. The majority of sightings have been around dusk and dawn.
Inquiries are being made with local organisations to establish if any marsupials are missing. In the mean time drivers are advised to take extra caution when travelling through the area.
