MADAM, We may have all become depressed by the poor weather in April and the weak economic environment, but it has not dented the generosity of the people of Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding area.

The Ross-on-Wye Lions Club had a double success firstly with our charity shop on Broad Street, held for one week raising £740 and then at the end of the month we held a bucket collection at Morrisons raising a further £389.

The generosity is in terms of providing items to be re-sold, in providing time to help the Lions Club and of course, allowing us to use a shop and lastly the giving money.

We should not forget unsung heroes such as Iris Price who unstintingly helps many organisations in Ross through her work with the local charity shop.
