Sarah Hayes, the scheme’s co-ordinator told the Ross Gazette:?“It was a chance for the volunteers to be introduced to each other and to the service users they’ve yet to meet. It was also the perfect opportunity for service users to meet each other and strike up a rapport.”
Sarah added:?“It was also wonderful to meet some newly acquired enthusiastic volunteers and to be able to welcome them into our friendly team.”
Walford Community Support Scheme offers valuable help and support to residents of the Parish of Walford, which includes Coughton, Hom Green, Bishopswood, Deep Dene and, of course, Walford. Volunteers provide a range of services, from friendly visits and chats with housebound residents, to those requiring practical assistance with paperwork or PC use.
Sarah said: “The scheme is in its infancy but the client base is growing weekly. It is becoming quickly evident that the services provided are much needed and are useful to friends and neighbours who are incapacitated, for whatever reason, and of whatever age.”

The next coffee morning will be held at St Michaels & All Angels, in Walford, on Tuesday, January 10th, from 10am to 12.30pm.
Please contact the co-ordinator if you’re able to attend.
